Divorce
No matter who is at fault, most divorces are harrowing events for the parties and, especially, for any children who involved.

Before or during your consultation, you must consider several factors under Florida divorce law. These include:
- Divorce or Dissolution: Different circumstances will determine what kind of case you will file.
- Residency: One of the parties must be a Florida resident for at least six months.
- Jurisdiction: You must file in a court that has jurisdiction over one of the parties.
PROPERTY DIVISION
Florida is an "equitable distribution" state. This means that a court will decide what is fair to the parties and the children under each separate set of circumstances for each separate case. This does not necessarily mean that property in Florida is divided 50-50. An attorney needs to evaluate each case separately to see what each party should be entitled to.
SPOUSAL SUPPORT AND ALIMONY
Alimony, whether temporary or permanent, is an issue that decided on a case-by-case basis. Not all divorcing couples will have alimony as a part of their proceedings. Many factors are involved, including the size of the marital estate, length of the marriage, relative earning power of each of the parties, and more. Again, only an experienced Florida divorce attorney can accurately evaluate each case to see if spousal support is appropriate.
Custody
This is often the most contentious and challenging aspect of a divorce. Courts look at many factors in determining custody, including the age of the children, the preference for the children, the stability of the home, educational requirements, and money more (far too many to discuss here).
Child Support
Florida uses a standard guide in determining child support amounts, which must be automatically deducted from the paying party's paycheck, if possible.
